Teaching Teachers How to Teach

Teaching Teachers How to Teach

With constant growth and research, I am constantly discovering the deeper places in the body that are keys to a healthful technique that avoids injury and allows the dancer to continue without restriction.  There are still many old teaching modalities around that do not rid the body of tension, but rather add to it.  The idea is to create space in the body that releases trapped energy allowing the body to move with greater freedom and expression.

I am offering Workshops in investigating new protocols for strengthening and fortifying the body in preparation for any style of dance.  Concentrating on the secondary muscles, breath, and the sense of constant inward spiral, I have developed a method to entrain teachers and dancers to a way of moving with ease, avoiding injury, and discovering the infinite possibilities we can transmit through performance.

Requirements:
·      Professional dancers who have had a career and are transitioning into teaching
·      Advanced or professional dancers who want to augment their present career with teaching
·      Teachers who want to discard old paradigms and move into a more modern and healthful approach to the body

Each class includes talks and practical application regarding:
·      The mechanics of moving through space
·      Creating more space in the body to move more efficiently
·      Relaxing the body to create more expression
·      The difference between tension and intention
·      Using the spiral and secondary muscles to free movement
·      How to move quickly and efficiently
·      Finding and maintaining the "center"
·      Keys to balance
·      Fundamentals of maintaining longevity in a dance career
·      How to make corrections so that they change neural pathways to deliver new messages that last
·      The power of repetition
·      The fundamentals of expression
·      How to teach dancers how to audition

All of the work is taught through my warm-up, which includes standing, floor, adagio, across the floor, and choreography.
